Painting at King Gillette Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains

Why i Paint

Throughout my life I've found great pleasure in wandering through the California landscape.  I have explored the riparian valleys, hills and beaches of Southern California, the Channel Islands off the coast of Santa Barbara to the Mojave  deserts and mighty mountains of the Sierra Nevada.

Using watercolor, acrylic and oil in both Plein-air and in the studio I hope to communicate what I see and more importantly what feel of each place I paint.

I draw inspiration from the California painters William Wendt, Edgar Payne, Franz Bishoff and contemporary artists from the  “Oak Group” in Santa Barbara, David Gallup, Jennifer Moses, Daniel Pinkham and Len Chmiel.

Come and share with me the outdoors I love.
